Juvenile Arthritis

A Resource for Teachers, Health Professionals and Students

Welcome to the on-line Juvenile Arthritis Resource Package - a site designed to provide teachers, health professionals and students with information, activities and resources to better work with kids and teenagers with juvenile arthritis.

Child with juvenile arthritis If you decide to work through the information and activities you can expect to have a better understanding of:

the types of juvenile arthritis and how they differ from the more common types of adult arthritis

the impact of juvenile arthritis on the lives of kids and teenagers, and their families

the management of juvenile arthritis , including exercise, medication, and looking after sore joints

working with and supporting a child or teenager with juvenile arthritis in your own context, and

resources and services available in the community.

Work through as much or as little of the resource package as appropriate for your own learning needs and context. It is likely to take between 30 and 60 minutes to complete the entire package, and provides opportunities for you to stop and consider the relevance of the material for your own work setting. Or, if you have a specific interest or concern you can use the site map to go straight to the appropriate section. The 'Home' page at the top of the screen will return you to this page at any time.

Before starting the following modules you might like to print a copy of the Working with a Child with Arthritis Plan. To do so click on the pencil image. This will enable you to reflect on how the information is of relevance to you in your own setting. Alternatively, the pencil image will direct you to the plan on completion of each of the modules.
